Tarred String or Twine

Description

Very hard to find nowadays but we have tracked some down….tarred jute ( a natural fibre) and so rot resistant and very long lasting, unpalatable to birds who will not unpick it for their nests and disliked by creepy crawlies such as the red spider mite and other aphids.

Made from natural fibre string/twine (diameter approx 2mm) impregnated with tar – the length of each roll, weighing 500+gms, is approx 74m and 250+gms is approx 37m.

The current batch are traditional roll/ball shaped. in the past they have been cylindrical in shape.

As featured on TV in Gardeners World 2024 but with many other uses beyond gardening.
